Dr Marie-Claire Whyte
Clinical Psychologist (adults, children and adolescents)
Dr. Marie-Claire Whyte is a Clinical Psychologist registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). She has 16 years post qualification experience in both adult and child and adolescent mental health, offering assessment and evidence based psychological interventions across a range ofemotional and behavioural issues, including anxiety, depression, grief, and post trauma responses. She draws on several evidence-based models, including cognitive behavioural, inter-personal, and attachment, and has specific training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT); Trauma Focused CBT; Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT).
Marie-Claire takes a collaborative, strengths-based approach, with the aim of providing a safe, reflective space in which to reach a shared understanding of a person’s difficulties, their values, and best hopes. She views the therapeutic relationship as the foundation to this understanding and change. Marie-Claire specialises in child and adolescent mental health, and continues to work part-time in the NHS. Marie-Claire can offer consultations remotely via zoom, or in person at the Greenbank Rooms. She offers a free 15 minute consultation to briefly discuss needs and ensure she is the best fit for you.
