Dr Maria Spedsberg
Clinical Psychologist (adults, children and adolescents)
Maria is a HCPC Registered Clinical Psychologist experienced in working with clients of all ages. She provides assessment and therapeutic intervention for a range of common psychological difficulties. She is experienced in a range of emotional, relational, behavioural and cognitive difficulties, across a spectrum of complexity and circumstances. Psychological therapy is built on a safe and nurturing relationship. The aim is for a person to understand themselves and their difficulties better and align with what is important to their lives. To facilitate this, Maria uses a compassionate reflective practice to form therapeutic relationships and is mindful at all times of the individual’s values and goals. This is to achieve the best outcomes for the individual seeking support.
Maria utilises several therapeutic approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Systemic practise and Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT). She has a particular interest in experiences of how interpersonal difficulties can impact the way we form and maintain relationships. Maria undertakes training and consultancy with external agencies and provides extensive clinical supervision.
Maria specialises in Child Psychology and has been working in the NHS for 11 years. She currently is a Highly Specialist Clinical Psychologist in a Child and Adolescent Mental Health service (CAMHS), where she works the majority of her time.
